Ben turned 6 months old on Valentine’s Day, and we took him to the pediatrician for his 6-month well check on the 18th. He weighs nearly 20 lbs. now, and he’s 27 inches long. The pediatrician said eye color is generally fixed at 6 months, so he’ll likely keep his lovely crystal blues. I’m planning to upload some recent photos of Ben to the gallery sometime during the next week.
Developmentally, Ben’s still making pre-babbling noises. They do seem to be gradually transitioning into recognizable syllables, though; ‘gi’ was a very popular syllable around here a few days ago. He’s still making progress towards crawling and sitting up unsupported. He *loves* playing in the exersaucer that my parents brought for him last weekend. He loves being outside, and he loves to chew on his hands.
Ben’s 6-month birthday not only marks a milestone for him, but for me and Nathan, too–it’s our 6-month anniversary as parents. I won’t lie, it’s been difficult at times during these first 6 months. But we’re both totally in love with Ben, and we’re proud of the care we’re providing for him.
Becoming his mom has been the most amazing discovery, the most difficult challenge, and the brightest blessing I’ve ever experienced.
